Nice itself is an attraction: the rich blue-green sea, diverse shopping, splendid dining and lovely art-deco façades. But there are several spots that a tourist simply must see, such as the Cours Saleya Flower Market, the Matisse Museum, ancient Roman ruins, the Russian Cathedral and more. Click on the category to the left that interests you to find out more.
Cours Saleya - F - 06000 Nice
Nice flower and food market – Tuesday-Sunday 06.00-13.00.
Mondays –Antique Market.
Comments:
Once an elegant road, the Cours is the site of a very famous flower market. It is bordered by the façade of the Chapelle de la Miséricorde and, to the east, the Palais Caïs de Pierla, where Matisse lived from 1921 to 1938. to the left of the chapel, the former palace of the governor and princes of Savoy, which is now the Préfecture (Place P.-Gautier). To the east lies the façade of the church of Saint-François-de-Paule (18th C.).
Port de Nice
Quai Papacino - F - 06000 Nice
A recent and very active port.
Comments:
The port was built on the orders of Charles-Emmanuel III of Savoy in 1750 in the Lympia marshes, and enlarged in the 19C. The Place Île-de-Beauté with its portico buildings was built at the same time. Freight boats, liners, fishing boats, sailboats and car ferries for Corsica keep the place busy all day long.
The Beach
Just across the road from the Villa is the magnificent Baie des Anges, the “rib” of the South of France – the Cote d’Azur. There are many different Plage with beach restaurants along the bay. The most famous and “in place” is still the one nearest you - The Castel Plage. Every day during the summer Castel Plage provide sun beds and parasols at a reasonable price and a very good restaurant. Just beside it is a public beach with the same sun!
Cinema in Nice
Two local cinemas show films in their original language: UK and Hollywood films in English! Some cinemas are very small in Nice. However they can also offer a great way of making up for this drawback several months after their release, you can still see films that you missed, whether they're very successful, big-budget films or much lower-key art house movies. Sometimes there can be 25 films billed (which makes the showing times occasionally a little unusual). Below are the two nearest with web page link:.
